I’m Vivienne Ravenhill, and I am the Senior Financial Controller in the Blackfinch Energy team.  In the course of my career I have enjoyed working for some big names like Yellow Pages, Vodafone, and KPMG. I was looking for a change and was keen to join a smaller company with clear aims in which I could make more of an impact, and Blackfinch ticked a lot of those boxes.

I was drawn to the company's ESG principles and its commitment to investment in renewable energy. It’s great to contribute to an organisation like Blackfinch that is investing into renewable energy projects and is reducing the CO2 emissions generated by traditional fossil fuel power sources.

What appealed to me too was the close-knit relationship between the finance team and the rest of the Energy team. This approach of embedding the finance team within the business supports decision making and creates an effective forward-looking team where we’re constantly learning from each other.

Since joining in August 2022, I’ve enjoyed the variety of work that my role has brought, and the opportunities to take on new challenges. At Blackfinch, no two days are the same - being part of a small finance team means that we all need to be flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the evolving business.

Previously I hadn’t had much exposure to the world of renewable energy. Blackfinch has given me the opportunity to learn about the industry, and has been a refreshing challenge. I’ve been lucky enough to escape the spreadsheets and don a hard hat and high vis jacket to visit one of our solar projects in construction which has really helped bring the numbers to life. I've enjoyed building relationships with other team members and departments, and I feel proud to be part of an organisation of enthusiastic and highly motivated people.

Working at Blackfinch is very enjoyable and being part of such a highly dedicated team has allowed me to thrive here. It has been a great journey so far, and I’m looking forward to seeing what the future holds.
