Blackfinch Energy, part of Blackfinch Group, is pleased to announce the acquisition of Muirhall Wind Farm Extension (Muirhall WF Extension Ltd), a high performing, two-turbine wind project located in South Central Scotland. The wind farm has the capacity to produce approximately 19 gigawatt hours (GWh) annually - enough renewable energy to power the equivalent of 5,500 homes each year.
Situated just an hour’s drive south of Edinburgh, Muirhall Wind Farm Extension has been operational for approximately ten years and was originally developed by Muirhall Energy Limited. The site is surrounded by several other turbines and stands out for its impressive scale and production capacity.
The wind farm comprises some of the largest turbines in the Blackfinch portfolio, with blade tip heights reaching 147 meters. These specifications make Muirhall Wind Farm Extension one of Blackfinch Energy’s most significant assets in terms of annual energy generation. To keep these turbines operating at peak performance, Blackfinch has chosen to continue working with Full Circle Wind Services as the trusted long-term maintenance partner. The independent wind turbine service provider has a substantial and growing portfolio of multi-brand turbines across the UK and Europe.
Alan Gorman, Investment Director at Blackfinch Energy commented: “The Muirhall Wind Farm Extension represents an ideal investment - an established and profitable, renewable asset with a proven track record. This acquisition further strengthens our renewable energy portfolio, offering stability and consistent returns for our investors.”
Billy Stevenson, CEO of Full Circle Wind Services added: "Wind farms such as Muirhall play a vital role in advancing renewable energy while making meaningful contributions to the communities they serve. Full Circle is proud to support this wind farm by delivering operations and maintenance services that prioritise both exceptional performance and local impact."
This acquisition highlights Blackfinch Energy’s ongoing strategy of expanding its portfolio of renewable energy assets while maintaining robust financial performance.
Blackfinch Energy’s portfolio has over 70 sites across the UK, diversified across both wind and solar and secured against a variety of revenue profiles including both subsidised and unsubsidised. With capital sourced from retail investors seeking Business Relief through the Blackfinch Adapt IHT Service, the news of this latest portfolio acquisition enables investors to see how their investment decision helps to secure a more reliable renewable energy resource for the UK.
