Evolve Media EIS Portfolios Buoyed by Seven Oscar Nominations
The Evolve Media EIS Portfolios have received a further boost following continued film awards success. The Portfolios, open to investors until mid-March 2018, invest in firms in the media and entertainment sector that meet the strict criteria for funding from Enterprise Investment Schemes (EIS).
Underlying investee firm First Score Music (FSM) holds the rights to the film score for the hit independent film Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. The film has been nominated in six categories at the 2018 Oscars, including for Best Film Score and Best Picture.
The Oscar nominations follow wins at the 2018 Golden Globes, where the film won in four categories including for Best Motion Picture – Drama, and at the 2018 Screen Actors Guild Awards, where the film won in three categories including Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.
These outcomes follow on from the successful strategy of the Evolve Media EIS Portfolios, focused on investing in small, growing companies in the media and entertainment sectors. The team works to utilize the rights on creative work for the benefit of investors. The team targets companies that offer predictable income streams, within sectors that are global in scope.
This is reflected in FSM’s ownership of the rights to the score for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, which are secured for the next 70 years. With the Oscar nominations having further raised the film’s profile, it will be viewed by many more people in cinemas and online. This will strengthen the revenue streams arising from the royalties for performance of the score.
The Oscar nominations are a huge honour that is due to the hard work of everyone involved in the making of the film including the score. We will continue to watch the film’s progress throughout awards season with great interest.
We are excited by the continued success of the Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, including the potential it brings for investors in the Evolve Media EIS, who can make new or further investments until mid-March 2018.
