Blackfinch Welcomes Entrepreneur and B2B Tech Leader Dr Nic Pillow to its Ventures Team
Blackfinch Ventures has recently announced a new hire, with Dr Nic Pillow, co-founder of tech start-up Rhizome Live, joining the team as Ventures Manager.
Since the appointment of Dr Reuben Wilcock as Ventures Director in February 2019, Blackfinch Ventures has expanded its expert team and portfolio of investments.
Prior to joining Blackfinch, Nic led a global team at Nokia which exercised control over 15 of its software products. He was responsible for growth in annual revenue for his area from £50m to £250m.
After leaving Nokia, Nic co-founded his own start-up Rhizome Live, a SaaS business in the educational technology sector, raising £400k in investment and winning a place at a top accelerator.
At Blackfinch Ventures Nic will be involved in the deal flow process, working closely with Reuben to scrutinise and review potential investments.
Reuben is a multi-award-winning entrepreneur with 15 years’ experience founding and growing technology start-ups. His smart home energy spinout, Joulo, won the British Gas Connected Homes competition in 2013 and was later acquired by Quby.
Dr Reuben Wilcock, Ventures Director at Blackfinch said: “We are delighted to welcome Nic to the growing Ventures team. Alongside his deep knowledge and expertise, his experience with start-ups within the technology sector will make him a great asset to Blackfinch”.
